Course Introduction
To date, the Security ITM has seen significant progress in all strategic areas such as better wages and welfare, as well as upskilling and career advancement opportunities for security officers, such as the Progressive Wage Model and enhanced protections against abuse and harassment through the Private Security Industry Act. The continued push for technology adoption and more optimised processes must be supported by a competent workforce. Therefore, a third pillar of the Security ITM 2025 is dedicated to charting the skillsets that the security workforce will need to adopt. Provide Guard and Patrol Services and Operate Basic Security Equipment is included as one of the three mandatory Basic Licensing Units for any new entrants joining the private security industry.
Provide Guard and Patrol Services and Operate Basic Security Equipment is designed to equip the security officers with the knowledge and skills to effectively provide guard and patrol duties at the building premises and operate basic security equipment in accordance to the organisation SOP, which includes:
LU1: Prepare for Duty
LU2: Access Control at Building Premises
LU3: Static Guard Duty at Guardhouse
LU4: Handle Telephone Calls and Lost-and-Found Properties
LU5: Patrol the Building Premises
LU6: Intrusion Alarm Duty in Control Room
LU7: Write Reports and Handover of Duty
Course Objective
After successfully completing the course, learners will be equipped with skills and knowledge to perform guard and patrol duties as well as access control duties effectively and professionally. The learners will be trained to perform guard and patrol functions as well as access control fucntions according to the organisational standards in Singapore. This course also provides learners who wish to gain more competencies in the provision of security services and pursue a new and thriving career in the private security industry in Singapore.
